Happy New Year

It's that time of year again! Time to give ourselves unattainable goals and feel miserable when we can't reach them. New Year's resolutions should be about better ourselves not belittling ourselves when we can't reach our goals. That's why last year I didn't set a weight loss goal. Instead I set goals to be a better person.

At the beginning of this year, I made my resolution list.   I'm pleased to say that for the most part a lot of these resolutions follow through.  I have learned to knit and boy have I advanced my skills. I'm very proud of all the items that I've made and am satisfied with my skills. This year, thank God, we were off a lot better  financially than last. We were able to help out a little boy for Christmas. We got him a nice Lego set. It was a joint effort. Everyone at Jess's work helped out the family. It was an adopt a family event. It was great. Growing up, my family was always involved in some charitable event or other  like this. I was always so grateful to get new clothes or shoes and a toy forget it , I was over the moon with joy . I know how it feels to not have enough to celebrate a birthday or holiday. How people always look at your like you're not good enough to talk to them because your clothes are used and not some brand. I can say that going through that does make me appreciate new clothes better but thrift stores will always have a special place in my heart.

I haven't really given any thought to what I'd like on my resolutions list this year. I guess that will be another post another day.

I want to thank everyone for following and all of your insightful comments. I look forward to what the New Year will hold for us all.  I wish everyone a happy and great New Year's. See ya next year!

  1. Growing up we didnt have much money either and my mom would make most of our clothes until I was about 13. Thats when she discovered yard sales and we got most of our stuff from them after that. I agree that this makes you truly appreciate what you have and it makes you more understanding of those who dont have alot themselves.

I hope you have a great New Years!

    1. My mom made us baby clothes but at one point it wasn't feasible anymore. Yard sales were great for us too. It was always fun until you ran into someone you knew from school.

Thank you and you have a great New Year too!.

  3. Happy New Year! I hope 2013 brings you all you hope for. Personally, I don't go for resolutions (I'm more of a 'go with the flow' type), but a little peace, love and understanding goes a long way. And how handsome is Ridley!!!! Outrageous!!! xxoo

  4. Happy new year! I never set myself unreasonable resolutions - why would I set myself up for failure?? And if I want to achieve something I DO IT - I don't plan it! And now, off my soapbox...

Wishing you and your loves a beautiful, happy, wonderful 2013!

O, being a better person has been a longtime goal of mine...I can see, however, that I have a long way to go, and I shall take inspiration from you! I don't make resolutions, usually, but I feel like I might need to, this year.Hmmm.

    1. Happy New Year! You are one of my inspirations to dress how I want and tell everyone else to feck off. I've n0ticed it takes a long time to curve "bad" behaviors especially when it's ourselves. I'm sure we'll all get to where we want to be eventually.

  7. Happy New Year to you and your Family.
My parents did not have tons of money either when I was in school. Alot of my clothes were hand me downs from cousins or thrifted. Now I laugh because I LOVE finding myself "OLD CLOTHES" I LOVE ME SOME OLD CLOTHES!!!! *hahah*
When I have cash I choose to thrift because I can buy MORE for my money. More is better right?! Or less is more?! hmmm NOPE MORE IS BETTER. =P

Your kitty looks like he's smiling. Must have got some catnip in his stocking!!!

    1. I love me some old man sweaters. A lot of our clothes were also hand me downs. I didn't really mind most of the time.

      Happy New Year.
