I hope everyone had a great weekend. We finally got some shelves put in. But even that took all my resolve and coaxing skills. The Husband doesn't like doing anything when he needs to. I hate it. I like having things done so that I can figure out if I like them or not. It took us over 3 hours to put in 3 shelves. Yeah. And they weren't fancy shelves or anything. Pre-cut boards and some L brackets. It wasn't that hard but he is very specific about the order things need to be done. It was driving me insane.
We were able to get the spare bedroom into shape for my in-laws to stay. They arrived Friday evening and we had corned beef for dinner. Unfortunately, my veggies were a little under-cooked. I feel terrible. I'm usually a stickler for making sure everything is cooked well. They said it was fine but I felt bad nonetheless.Saturday we went to the train museum in Carson City. The husband had been wanting to go but I don't really have an interest in the workings of trains. I like to look at them but I don't need to spend hours taking to an engineer about how things work. Like my father-in-law. My mother-in-law, Jess's grandmother and I did ride the stream train though. It was pretty fun except it started to hail and snow half way through the ride. It was an interesting ride. It game me an idea of how uncomfortable it would have been to ride a train for a long time. My back was stiff and my knees were killing me. We went home and had some tea and cookies. it was decided that I would make dinner that night again for 7 people. I made Salsa Verde Pork, rice and beans. It was a huge hit. I didn't make the salsa Verde from scratch because 1) it's too time consuming and 2) it was cheaper to use the bottled stuff.
A week or so before my in-laws were due to come over the husband and I were thinking of having a BBQ for everyone. I mentioned it to my FIL and he mentioned it to his brother. Well, Jess's uncle took it upon himself to host the BBQ without consulting us. I've noticed that even though we'll be turning 28 this year they still treat us like kids. It really irritates okay it actually pisses me off that although we're hosting the family someone else has to undermine us and make important decisions behind our backs. So I told Jess: "They want to treat us like kids then they can pay for it." And they did. At dinner on Sunday, they had us sit in the younger kids area. Yeah it was pretty obvious that they still think we're kids. I guess they won't take us seriously until we have kids. Yeah, I'm not bring a child into this world just to be taken seriously.
Even though we stayed mostly home, it was an exhausting weekend. I spent the entire week before their trip down cleaning and arranging things. Washing towels and sheets. We just hung out at home on Monday. Jess was tired and feel headache-y. We played video games and had pizza for dinner. We LOVE pizza. It's one of the foods that we can agree on.
I have some great news: Jess got hired on at his job! I'm so happy and proud of him. I was praying and hoping that he would get the job. We like living on our own and making our way in life. I'm thankful to God that we are getting this opportunity to set up our roots in a new place.
Until next time, Ta!

Time Flies
Somehow the week got away from me. That tends to happen sometimes. I'll be like oh it's Monday then it's like "oh crap it's Friday." It tends to happen when I'm not really doing much with my week. When I was working six days a week the week would just drag on. I mean D-R-A-G on. I could wait to see my hubby on the weekends. It was the only thing that made my week worthwhile.
My in-laws will be here a week from today. I have been trying to get the house in order. There's really not all that much to do but we still need to clean the hobby room. The Husband started to clean it. The problem is that it stayed started. He procrastinates like nobody's business. I've been trying to get him to get some shelves in that room so he can put all of his figures up and out of boxes. I've been trying to get my things set up and organized but I can't since his stuff is all over the place.
My mom sent me a ton of yarn. I mean like two big boxes full of all of her yarn. She's been cleaning up her room and wanted to get rid of a ton of stuff. It's a bunch of really soft yarn. Like for baby blankets and stuff. I've been using the soft yarn to make the snoods. They hang very well. I had to go to Joann's to buy some elastic. They didn't have much in the way of selection either.
I started a blouse last week. It's black with a pink collar. I have to attach the sleeves and buttons. I really want to make a couple of dresses for Memorial Day weekend. I hope I can get it done by Thursday. Speaking of making things, I got bored mid-week and felt like doing something with my hands. I'd had this transfer pattern for a while. I'd bought it some time around when I got married. I enjoy embroidery and cross stitching a lot. It was once of the first thing my mom taught me.
Now that I've made this kitchen towels I want to buy a cat clock like the this one. I've always liked them but haven't been big on clocks until we had our own place.
I added another Stratton compact to my collection. This one is for loose powder with a divider to keep it separate from the powder puff.
I leave you with a few pics that I've taken throughout the week. I hope you enjoy it.
Hopefully next time I see you, I will have freshly dyed hair. It's been a while. Hope you all have a great weekend.

I stitch in Time
I decided to get my hair cut. I've been toying with the idea for a few weeks now. I like having long hair but right now my hair isn't even. It's longer in the front than the back. I've been kinda in a rut with my hair lately. I want to do something with it but don't know what. I think I'm going to with the the middy plus or femme fatale. I'm going to have my bangs cut longer to like 6" so I can do a pomp and victory rolls.
My mami sent me two boxes of yarn and things I left at home. Since her divorce she's been cleaning up and clearing out. She wants to simplify her life and make more time for herself. I don't blame her. She spent the last decade in Hell thanks to my father. My mother was formally educated in Mexico but once she married my father her made her a housewife. For years she's been wanting to get her high school diploma through a program in our hometown. She then wanted to go to college and become an LVN and work with elderly people. She's always had a soft spot for helping the elderly or young. I really hope she can do it.
We were going to get our hair cut this weekend but the husband got sick on Friday. He had a flare up of his diverticulitis. It was making feel really crumby. He had a slight fever, stomach cramps, and other stomach issues. He took half a day off at work. We went into town to try and find a clinic since we don't have medical health cover yet. We went to two different places. One was a women's clinic so they couldn't take care of him. The other one was a clinic. They told us we could wait to see if someone cancelled an appointment but they couldn't guarantee that we would see the doctor. In other words, we could waste the whole day and not get seen. We left. I really can't believe how bad the medical system is out here. I'm used there being a lot of clinics we can go to without a problem. A lot of the clinics/doctor's offices out here are privately owned and don't get any help from the state. It makes it so that if you have a I wasn't going to waste the whole day. I gave some liquids and antibiotics. By Saturday morning he was feeling better.
Since the Husband wasn't feeling well I decided to try my hand at making the Perky snood .I had tried making them before but the yarn I was using was the wrong weight. Well I manged to make 3 snoods over the weekend. Now that I've been knitting I'm learning how to read patterns a lot better. The way I learned to crotchet was through diagrams not wording. I'll post pics of them once I get new batteries in my camera. Also, for the last couple of days I've been trying to figure this snood out. It's bee driving me nuts. I've already made and unmade 3 or 4 samples. I've got a basic idea for the pattern. I just need to fine tune it.
My younger sister is coming up in June to spend a couple of weeks with us. It'll be nice to have someone around during the day. Jess is super excited. He always wanted to have a little sister and his sister-in-law is as close as he's ever gonna get. We bought flowers for both of our mother. I wish I could be there to celebrate with my mom.
I'm hoping to get a lot done this weekend. We want to add some shelves to the guest room so that Jess can display all of his anime figurines. I'd like a couple of shelves too. I'd like to have more of my things stored and within reach. We also need to transplant our seedlings outside. My soy beans and cucumbers are growing very well. I have a lot of tomato plants too so I may need to weed them out. Take the stronger ones outside to plant.
My in-laws and Jess's grandparents are coming a few weeks. It's exciting and nerve-wrecking at the same time. I like my in-laws it's just I haven't honed my hostess skills as of yet. We have not had any one over that isn't family over. It's really hard to make friends in a town where the median age is 39. It seems everyone is either too old or too young for us to hang out with. We have better look in Reno but we only go out there once a month. We'll as long as Jesse and I have each other we should be fine.
Hopefully I'll be posting pics of my progress on my knitting and crotchet projects. Until next time, Ta!
